PhilRW's blogApple introduces TV and iPhoneSteve announced Apple's two newest devices: TV (AppleTV) and iPhone, two new ways of watching your favorite media content. And NVP will provide you with some of that content if you let us. NVP will of course support other media players and devices, but since Apple is our preferred hardware/software provider, I'm glad they're innovating. Steve is one smart CEO. It's alive!!!The company webserver is now installed with our colocation service. Lots of bandwidth with our own machine! It's the best of both worlds. Now all we need is lots of content and lots of customers and things will be humming along. By PhilRW at 01/03/2007 - 14:17 | login to post comments

The Xserve is hereAs I write this I'm configuring the new server to run this website. Where Are All The Webservers?Okay Apple, it's becoming time to make good on your promise. You said that the new webservers would become available "Sometime in October." Well October's almost over and we still can't order a webserver from you. This company isn't going to fly on a home PC with a cable modem, we need a professional-grade machine to run a professional-grade company. New Xserves Dent Deployment PlansIt's not really so much of a dent as it is a temporary reorganization. The new servers, on which we will deploy the website, are much faster (they say up to 5x). They're available in October so that is when we will plan to get the web server up and running. And in case you're wondering: yes, technically this is on a web server too. But it is totally unsuitable for the traffic we hope to generate. By PhilRW at 08/22/2006 - 07:02 | login to post comments
Tripods and NYCShooters be warned: using a tripod anywhere in New York City will get you an unpleasant talking-to by police or security or whoever's in charge of wherever you are. You need New York press credentials or a permit from the mayor's office to put your camera on a tripod in this hostile city. Gearing up for productionLiterally choosing the right gear, as well as choosing the right mindset, is critical for your production. Whether that production is a multimillion dollar budget feature or a fifty dollar home production doesn't matter much. In the case of the latter and less than stellar financial resources one makes do with what one can.
