Tripods and NYCShooters be warned: using a tripod anywhere in New York City will get you an unpleasant talking-to by police or security or whoever's in charge of wherever you are. You need New York press credentials or a permit from the mayor's office to put your camera on a tripod in this hostile city. It is understandable that this rule be enforced in high pedestrian traffic areas or in places where a tripod could create a safety hazard, but I don't think it's really necessary sitting on an empty pier while attempting to do a time-lapse shot of the setting sun. From now on any run-and-gun production this company does in New York will no longer use a tripod out of protest of this absurd rule. Huh
Well, thanks Phil for learning that for me. I've been told to pick up my tripod once, but I was in a very busy area. I just figured it was that one instance.
